Time Configuration

First thing one might be willing to do is to Define the system's current timezone for proper time management.

Refer to system's /usr/share/zoneinfo/ content for list of eligible timezones.

Once selected, simply extend your ansible/vars/variables.yml file with:

dalet_baseos_tuning_timezone: CHOSEN_IMEZONE

Warning

It is highly recommended to keep it set to UTC (default, Universal Time Coordinated), making any collaboration between global teams way easier when it comes to troubleshooting, unless all your collaborators are in a given, single country and timezone.

Next thing to be considered are NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers.

NTP is used to ensure that all server instances from your platform are synchronized. This is particularly important for databases working in cluster where time clocks are used to synchronize data between peers.

By default, Flex is configured to use Ubuntu's default public instances (requires Internet connectivity).

If your system is air-gapped or if you have your own local NTP servers, you can override this configuration by extending the ansible/vars/variables.yml file with:

dalet_baseos_network_ntp_servers:
  - 1.ntp.acme.local
  - 2.ntp.acme.local

Tip

It is highly recommended to have a least 2 NTP servers set, to ensure service high-availability and prevent clock drift.
