Proxy Assets

A proxy asset is an asset which is created when a source asset is transcoded into a low-res version. The proxy asset always exists as a child of a source asset and serves as a means of browsing video and audio in Dalet Flex’s Web Console. A proxy asset always has a proxy creation context. A proxy asset file format is specified by the transcode profile associated with a create proxy action. In general, proxy asset file formats are low-res audio-visual files that support playback in HTML 5 and Flash video players. The reason for this is that the Dalet Flex console proxy viewer supports HTML5 video and falls back to Flash if your browser doesn’t support HTML5 video.

It is possible to use Dalet Flex’s REST API to embed Dalet Flex proxies into other web-based systems.
